I’ll walk through each option step by step, showing how direct flash can create harsh highlights, how diffusers soften reflections, how constant light makes it easier to shoot moving subjects, and why backlighting can bring out fine details like hairs and textures. None of these are the "right" or "wrong" way — they’re just different tools that you can choose based on your subject and the situation you’re in. Whether you’re photographing fungi, insects, reptiles, or any other macro subject, understanding light and diffusion will help you get more consistent results in the field.
