A Winter Day in Kibber | Snow Leopard Habitat, Red Fox, High Altitude Life in Spiti

Though I’ve made three videos from Spiti Valley before, those films move from one sighting to the next. A real day in the field does not. A day here moves slowly. It involves long hours outside, often at sub-zero temperatures, with long stretches where nothing happens. Most of the work is waiting, or getting from one point to another This video follows one full day in Kibber. It is a vlog of how that day actually plays out. I show where we stay and how we deal with the cold without any central heating indoors. I show how daily routines work when there is no flowing water. Alongside this, the video follows how we go about watching wildlife through the day — birding in the morning, spending time around known fox areas, and changing plans as weather and information shift. For wildlife photography, the video shows the reality behind time in the field: long waits, repeated visits to the same location, and days where effort does not always translate into sightings. The day also includes a conversation with Tsering, who talks about what it takes to host people in Kibber during winter — heating rooms, sourcing firewood, managing food and water, and dealing with medical needs in a remote, high-altitude village. This video is not built around highlights. It shows how a winter day here passes — between waiting, watching, and getting through the cold.
